Access Chemical Processing Insight Via Podcasts And Videos

I'm a writer. I like to write. I became a journalist because of that fact. I also like to listen to what other people have to say about topics they’re expert in. These two likes are served well by several outlets of my job including podcasts and videos. I have to admit, I've been a little lackadaisical when it comes to recording both. But I had a recent resurgence of energy and cranked out several videos and recorded a few new podcasts – the most recent was a book review of sorts. In that 12-minute podcast I spoke to Daniel Roessler, who wrote the book, Control System Migrations: A Practical Project Management Handbook (Momentum Press, 2013). He told me his reasons behind his methodology and how readers should use this book. He also revealed his “a-ha” moments during the writing process and what an optimal migration team should look like. There you will find the Podcasts link.As for videos, I was able to stroll around the Chem Show in New York and conduct a few interviews with vendors of new-to-market products aimed at making plants as efficient, safe, environmentally friendly and economically competitive as possible. Three of the videos I shot showcased winners of the 2013 Vaaler Awards: Tim O'Neill, product specialist at Kuriyama of America, talks about the Voltbuster hose — the only heavy-walled thermoplastic hose that safely dissipates static charge in extremely high static material-transfer applications. Anna Pishchulina, product line business manager at Micro Motion, describes the award-winning Coriolis flow technology that precisely measures mass and volume flow as well as density in lines less than 2 inches in diameter or DN50, and is immune to process, mounting and environmental effects. And Todd Willman, president and director of development at EPCON International, along with Chris Cummings talk about their company's winning Process Innovator, which models, simulates and analyzes pipe distribution systems.I also tapped my inner Martin Scorsese and put together a montage of the 2013 Vaaler Award presentations. I don't think Hollywood will be calling me anytime soon, but I think it’s a good first. (See more on all the Vaaler Award winners.)

He talks about the company's static mixing product. And off camera he told me the suit jacket he was wearing used to belong to one of the actors on Law & Order. Apparently, he saw an online auction selling the clothes and couldn't pass up the opportunity to own something that might have been worn by the late great Jerry Orbach. If you're familiar with the show, I think this coat screams Detective Lennie Briscoe.
