EU Targets South Korea In Anti-Dumping Probe

European and American authorities investigate South Korea’s petrochemical sector.

Anti-dumping investigations by European and U.S. authorities are targeting South Korea’s petrochemical sector, according to an article from Pulse. The European Union (EU) reportedly initiated a probe on imported purified teraphthalic acid (PTA) from Korea, which follows an American investigation in July against emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber (ESBR) made in Korea, Brazil, Poland and Mexico, according to the article.

Korea’s PTA exports to EU in the first half of the year reportedly grew 17% over the previous year to 440,000 metric tons. According to the article, an industry official says the EU anti-dumping probe is attributable to European chemical makers who have taken issue with increased Korean imports.
