Hazards Australasia 2016 Focuses On Adding Value Within Process Safety

Sept. 2, 2016
Lineup of speakers is announced for November IChemE event.
The full program for Hazards Australasia 2016 includes more than 60 high-level presentations, according to the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), organizer of the event.  Hazards Australasia 2016 takes place November 23-24 at the MCG in Melbourne, Australia.

Hazards Australasia 2016 will focus on adding value within process safety – without adding cost. Over 150 delegates are expected to participate in a program that will feature speakers from industry, academia and regulatory bodies. The conference will cover aspects of process safety including culture, engineering and design, knowledge and competence, systems and procedures, and human factors, with contributions from process safety companies ABB, Gexcon, HIMA Australia, MMI Engineering, Qenos, Refining New Zealand, WorleyParsons and others, according to IChemE.

The lineup of keynote speakers includes former IChemE President and former Chair of the UK Health and Safety Executive Dame Judith Hackitt. Hackitt is currently chair of The Manufacturer’s Organisation (EEF). She will discuss the importance of creating a safety culture.

Chair of Safe Work Australia and Broadspectrum Limited and President of Chief Executive Women Diane Smith-Gander will also be a keynote, focusing on workplace health and safety to support sustainable practices. She is joined by Chair of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) Keith Spence, and WorkSafe New Zealand General Manager Wayne Vernon. IChemE Safety Centre Director Trish Kerin will host a networking session and share the ISC’s guidance at the exhibition.
