The American Chemistry Council’s GlobalChem Conference and Exhibition originally scheduled to take place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, D.C., will transition into an all-virtual conference format. GlobalChem will be held online beginning with the TSCA 101 Workshops on Tuesday, April 5, and the full conference program from Monday, April 11 through Thursday, April 14, 2022. Registration for 2022 GlobalChem Conference is open. All currently registered attendees and exhibitors are being notified of the change to the conference program.
GlobalChem is focused on chemical management regulatory policy. Coupled with the GlobalChem Exhibition, the annual gathering of industry professionals offers attendees opportunity to examine recent developments in global chemicals management and the continued implementation of the 2016 Lautenberg Amendments to the U.S. Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
“GlobalChem brings together leaders from across industries, international stakeholders and EPA to reinforce why a risk-based approach to chemicals management is the most sensible and effective model worldwide,” says ACC President and CEO Chris Jahn. “In our continued effort to deliver an engaging meeting experience, we made the tough decision to postpone returning to an in-person GlobalChem Conference until 2023. While we are all disappointed that we won’t be able to engage in person, ACC and our members remain committed to maintaining and strengthening our dialogue with the agency.”
The theme for this year’s GlobalChem Conference is “Examining the Evolution of Chemicals Management.” The 2022 agenda includes sessions on lessons learned from the implementation of amended TSCA and expectations for TSCA implementation in the coming years; 2022 priorities for EPA’s Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics; supply chain and transportation policy; emerging contaminants; challenges and opportunities with global chemicals management policy; environmental justice and more, according to the organization. An optional workshop day on Tuesday, April 5 will allow attendees to explore the fundamentals of TSCA implementation, including:
- What to Submit and How to Work with Your PMN Manager;
- The TSCA Framework for Existing Chemicals at Year 5;
- TSCA Sections 4 & 8; and
- Understanding Confidential Business Information.
