Polish Your Sparkler Knowledge

June 29, 2016

We are coming up on Independence Day here in the states. The long weekend ahead will surely involve sparklers. I was glad I found this short Reactions video from our friends over at The American Chemical Society. Now I can impress my friends with my knowledge of how sparklers work. I studied up a few years ago on how the big fireworks work (Video: How Fireworks Dazzle) and that earned me some chemistry street cred and all the red, white and blue jello shots I could consume. Let’s see what I can do this year. If you want to buff up on your sparkler knowledge, check out the video below.

Traci Purdum is Chemical Processing’s senior digital editor. You can find her writing her name in the air with sparklers this weekend. You also can email her at [email protected].
