Industry Expresses Concerns With Presidential Candidates

Oct. 3, 2016
Companies worry about Trump’s stance on global trade and Clinton’s attacks on pharmaceutical industry.

The chemical industry is not immune to the divide caused by this year’s Presidential candidates. According to an article from Scientific American, the chemical sector seems to favor Clinton while biotech may lean toward Trump.  The academic and scientific communities overwhelmingly support Clinton, according to the article.

Two former chiefs of the Environmental Protection Agency who served in Republican administrations say Trump has demonstrated “a profound ignorance of science and of the public health issues embodied in our environmental laws.” Both candidates have come after the biotech industry, according to the article, with Clinton taking a stronger stance regarding “price gouging” by drug companies.
