NABE Invites Applicants For Inaugural Economic Research Award

Sept. 13, 2017
The National Association for Business Economics and the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation establish the Daniel Meckstroth Award for Excellence in Manufacturing Research.

The National Association for Business Economics (NABE) and the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation (MAPI) establish the Daniel Meckstroth Award for Excellence in Manufacturing Research. NABE and MAPI will present the award in honor of Dr. Meckstroth on an annual basis to the winning author(s) of original research that provides the greatest insights and value to promoting or improving the competitiveness of American manufacturing. The inaugural award will be presented at the 2018 NABE Economic Policy Conference, February 25-27, in Washington, DC.

Dr. Meckstroth served as MAPI's lead economist from 1991-2016 and was widely recognized as one of America's premier manufacturing researchers and as a chief economic spokesperson for the U.S. manufacturing sector, according to NABE. His quarterly industrial forecast reportedly provided a benchmark for manufacturing companies for two decades and is still in publication.

The winning author(s) will present the award-winning research paper during a dedicated session at the 2018 NABE Economic Policy Conference, and the winning paper will be published in a future issue of Business Economics, NABE's quarterly professional journal. Thanks to a grant from MAPI, the Meckstroth Award includes a $3,000 cash prize from The NABE Foundation, NABE's charitable arm.

Applicants are invited to submit abstracts for papers to be considered for the inaugural award by September 20, 2017. Researchers with questions are welcome to contact Michele Soresi at [email protected] or 202-463-6223.
