2015 Salary And Satisfaction Trends Revealed In The Chemical Processing Industry

April 1, 2015
Annual survey results indicated improved outlook.
If the numbers are any indication, the chemical processing industry is on an upswing. Our annual state-of-the-industry report from the American Chemistry Council forecasts moderate growth for the next several years. This is good news for chemical engineers — most participants in our 2015 Salary and Job Satisfaction Survey seem to agree. “This industry will be the future for manufacturing within the U.S.,” exclaimed one respondent.

A total of 1,247 people participated in this year’s survey. We asked everything from annual salary earned to bonus information to likes and dislikes about the job. Readers gave us great insight into what it’s like to work in the chemical industry and what engineers are struggling with daily. No surprise, younger participants are concerned with absorbing knowledge. Noting this trend of experienced personnel leaving the work force, one participant advised those looking to become chemical engineers to “Get in early and learn as much as you can from the senior people before they retire.”

To help you navigate your own career path, we’ve once again published the results of our annual salary and job satisfaction survey. Inside this PDF, which contains several exclusive charts and comments that don’t appear in the print issue, you will find analysis and data on myriad topics including:

  • Average Salary Earned
  • Job Security
  • Average Raises Earned
