A process that provides high molecular precision may offer unrivaled ability to tailor-make polymers with specific properties such as weight, strength, shape and size, say researchers at Warwick University, Coventry, U.K., and Monash University, Parkville, Australia. It paves the way for the synthesis of a new class of macromolecular materials that are attractive for a variety of applications from methacrylic monomers previously challenging to polymerize, they note.
