Experts gathered at University of Karachi tout importance of chemical engineering to solving world’s problems.

Experts conclude that the future of civilization hinges on innovations in chemical engineering, according to an article from The News International. Advances in chemical engineering are critical to solving problems related to health, energy and the environment say experts gathered for a seminar at the University of Karachi in Pakistan.

According to Professor Dr S. F. Rafeeqi, chairman of the Institute of Engineers, quoted in the article, the efficient storage and transfer of energy is key to many problems facing scientists. Other speakers at the conference, which was organized by the university’s Department of Chemical Engineering, included Dr Shujjat Ahmed, senior process manager of the Pakistan Petroleum Ltd; Dr Mohammad Mansha, Suparco General Manager; Dr Shagufta Ishteyaque, in-charge of the Chemical Engineering Department; Professor Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi, vice chancellor of the Dadabhoy Institute; and Pakistan Engineering Council Chairman Engineer Inam Osmani.
