The “MX-5-SS” miniature rotary batch mixer from Munson Machinery reportedly blends ingredients in ratios as extreme as one part per million with 100% uniformity in less than three minutes, regardless of disparities in the bulk densities, particle sizes or flow characteristics of batch ingredients.
The mixer features a rotating drum with proprietary mixing flights that tumble, turn and fold material gently as well as rapidly. Unlike stationary mixing vessels that leave a residual “heal” of material after discharge, the rotating vessel and internal flights reportedly lift and direct the entire batch through a plug gate valve for complete evacuation with no residual material, improving product quality and process control while facilitating rapid, thorough cleaning.
An optional “swivel feed chute” simplifies manual dumping of batch ingredients through an access door. Also, an optional discharge spout helps direct the discharging product flow into customer containers.
The mixer has a drum capacity of 10 cubic feet (283 liters), and a batch capacity of five cubic feet (141 liters) and 500 pounds (227 kilograms), and is equally effective in blending of batches that comprise between five to 100 percent of rated capacity, offering flexibility in laboratory and production environments.
