Company’s operations impacted by severe weather in Texas

Shell’s Deer Park Chemicals plant experienced operational disruptions following severe weather, including several reports of tornados, in the Houston area on Jan. 24, according to Reuters news service.

A twister damaged homes, buildings and power lines in Pasadena, Texas, before moving east toward Beaumont.

Petroleos Mexicanos also reported disruptions at its oil refinery.

The Deer Park site operates 24 hours a day, according to the company’s website. The company produces base or raw material chemicals, including light olefins, heavy olefins and phenol, and sells them to other chemical companies that use them in consumer products.

The facility is located near products pipelines and dock facilities.
