A government probe into a failed July 15 coup attempt results in the resignation of the CEO of Turkish plastics maker Petkim, according to an article from Plastics News. CEO Sadettin Korkut stepped down two weeks after the attempted coup and another 19 Petkim employees have reportedly been detained. According to the article, police say they have arrest warrants for a total of 31 employees of the company, the major petrochemical producer in Turkey.
More than 200 people were reportedly killed and another 2,000 injured during the coup attempt, which the Turkish government accuses U.S.-based Islamic cleric and scholar Fethullah Gülen of orchestrating. According to the article, Turkish media are reporting 62,000 people have been suspended from companies across the country in the wake of the government investigation. Petkin says the investigation will not impact its business activities.
