Arkema Increases PVDF Production In U.S. With Kentucky Plant Expansion

April 30, 2018
Arkema starts new Kynar fluoropolymer production in the United States.

Arkema successfully brings new Kynar PVDF production on stream at its Calvert City, KY plant in the United States, according to the company. The 20% increase in its U.S. production capacity will further support customer demand in the region.

The move follows the start-up of a similar expansion at Arkema’s Changshu, China plant in 2017. Arkema operates fluoropolymer production facilities on the three continents - Europe, North America and Asia, according to the company.

The new capacity will reportedly enable the company to support its customers’ growth in America, particularly in emerging applications such as water filtration and in traditional markets such as the chemical processing industry and high performance cables (automobile, fiber optics, oil industry). The expansion also supports Arkema’s goal of accelerating the development of its advanced materials, according to the company.
