A new survey from East West Associates indicates that U.S. manufacturers are reassessing plans for their China operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to an article from Food Processing. East West surveyed more than 150 Western companies with operations in China to see how their strategies for manufacturing, contract manufacturing and sourcing there had altered.
According to the article, 85% of the companies surveyed have changed their business plans due to the pandemic. These companies, however, are reportedly reacting in markedly different ways: 39% report an increased focus on improving operations in China while 46% are focused on relocating their operations out of China. Another 15% say it's too soon to tell.
