Readco's new CHR
Process equipment manufacturer Readco Kurimoto, LLC installs its new continuous hybrid reactor (CHR) in the company's York, Pennsylvania R&D testing center. Recently introduced to facilitate safe, efficient, repeatable chemical reactions in a continuous process, the full-size CHR is available for testing with customer materials and formulations to verify machinery performance in a laboratory environment that simulates actual operating conditions. The testing may be monitored virtually via streaming video on a secure, web-based platform with real-time interaction with Readco engineers or attended live in person at the R&D testing center.
Developed for processing temperature- and/or oxygen-sensitive materials such as adhesives, sealants and elastomers, the continuous hybrid reactor creates a deep vacuum that provides a high level of control over the mixing intensity, heat transfer rate, residence time and other reaction conditions. Heating, cooling, mixing, degassing and other processes may be performed in a single step, according to the company.
Expanding the range of continuous process equipment available on-site for testing, the CHR joins the company's continuous processor (CP) and SC processor (SCP) in the R&D test center, known for mixing and for drying, respectively. The line of continuous process equipment is custom manufactured in the company's York headquarters based on performance testing conducted on the full-size equipment in the test laboratory.
