Transportation Disruption, Supply Chain Delays Cost Millions

A survey from the American Chemistry Council shows chemical industry costs and shipping delays have increased since last year.

Everything is going up. That’s according to a survey from the American Chemistry Council (ACC) cited by Bloomberg Law that shows chemical industry costs and delays to ship goods by ocean, truck and rail have all increased since last year. The ACC reportedly surveyed members in the first quarter of 2022 to update information obtained last year.

According to Bloomberg Law, ACC finds that supply chain and transportation delays are costing millions of dollars, hurting chemical producers particularly in the South and creating force majeure situations. Various actions designed to ease the delays include an apprenticeship pilot program for truck drivers implemented by the Department of Transportation, shipping reforms and updated rails service policies.
