Chemical Safety Board Plans To Proceed With Sole Member

The historically five-member board is down to one member.
The U.S. Chemical Safety Board, historically consisting of five members, is down to just one. Nonetheless, Chairperson Katherine Lemos, a Trump appointee and the sole remaining board member, plans to carry out the CSB’s mission despite the President’s attempt to shutter the watchdog agency, according to an article from Reuters. A public meeting to discuss the agency’s intent to proceed was recently postponed.
According to the article, labor and industry groups have protested the Trump administration’s efforts to cut funding to the agency and let positions go unfilled. Through a spokesperson, the American Chemistry Council has reportedly also voiced its desire to Congress to see the board’s five spots filled.
