Eastman Chemical Company is set to restart its coal gasification plant in Kingsport, Tennessee three months after two explosions and a fire at the facility rocked the city, according to an article from WCYB. Nearby residents who were directed to shelter in place at the time recalled the smoke and the immense power of the October 4th explosions.
Repairs to damage caused by what Eastman refers to as a “process upset” are complete and the plant is ready to resume normal operation, according to the WCYB. Eastman reportedly expects the explosions to cost the company between $50 million and $100 million this year.
