The contaminated products have caused crop losses and soil damage.

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority is investigating a growing number of agrochemical companies for selling contaminated herbicides, according to an article from The Weekly Times. Approximately 200,000 liters of tainted herbicides have reportedly been in supply stores for up to two years. The products in question were allegedly contaminated during production at an Accensi plant in Brisbane and have caused crop losses and soil damage, according to the article.

The contaminated herbicides were reportedly sold by Nufarm, Crop Care and Syngenta. They are used to control weeds on vegetable and grain crops as well as pasture and perennial grasses. According to the article, the Victorian Farmers Federation says there was a “prompt” recall of the tainted products, while some retailers report the herbicides are still on their shelves.
