A new survey from the Institution of Engineering and Technology indicates more concerns in the wake of Brexit, according to an article from CNBC. The U.K.’s decision to leave the European Union reportedly has many employers anticipating a skills gap in the engineering sector with current British graduates lacking critical knowledge.
The survey of more than 400 employers of engineering and technology staff finds that 62% say British graduates do not meet their expectations and 68% worry that the U.K. education system will be hard-pressed to keep up with the skills required by new developments in technology, according to the article. Thirty-five percent also reportedly believe that Brexit will negatively impact their recruitment efforts because Europe’s pool of skilled workers will not be available to them.
