The show, with more than 600 exhibitors, will be held from Tuesday, Oct. 30, through Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Javits Convention Center, New York, N.Y.
Following are the highlights of the upcoming 51st edition of the show:
- Industry growth: Can the global chemical industry sustaining growth will be keynote speaker Dr. Thomas Kevin Swifts topic at 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30. Swift is chief economist and managing director, Economics and Statistics, American Chemistry Council.
- Nanotechnology: For the first time at the Chem Show, a two-day workshop and symposium titled "Nano 101 Nanomaterials Processing" will provide an overview of the nanomaterials industry and market, synthesis and processing issues, safe handling and use of nanostructured materials and case studies on engineered nanoparticulate material systems. The workshop will be held from noon to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30 and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:50 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31.
- Educational conferences: Financially sound green engineering; smooth, safe and secure processes; and efficient bulk-solid handling are the three main areas of focus for the Educational Conference portion of this years Chem Show. Technical sessions, management forums, operations workshops, tutorials and short courses will be offered for each of the three tracks.
- International scope: A strong international presence will be evident at this years Chem Show. Innovative products and technologies previously unseen in the United States will be debuted by nearly 50 companies from 15 different countries. The latest technological developments in the CPI could easily come from Asia or Latin America, according to Stevens. "You never know where new technology or innovative products will come from," he says. "Many CPI professionals at every Chem Show tell us they saw products or discovered new solutions from international companies they didnt even know existed."
- Outsourcing: A new Outsourcing Services and Contract Manufacturing Pavilion has been added to the Chem Show. "As more manufacturers from the chemical, pharmaceutical, and other process industries see the benefits of outsourcing functions that may have previously been done in-house, there are increasing opportunities for companies that supply these services," says Clay Stevens, President of International Exposition Company, producers of the Chem Show. "Were giving these companies a high visibility environment to gain exposure, target a wider audience and meet the people who are responsible for procuring these services."
