Company says its systems can help BP standardize safety design.

Safety automation and control equipment provider Hima Americas Inc. has signed an agreement with BP Products North America to provide BP's five North American refineries with safety instrumented systems and functional safety services.

The agreement announced May 5 comes as BP continues to push its "safety first" philosophy after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill last year

Under the five-year deal, Hima will provide its TUV-certified HIMax safety platform, its SILworX configuration, programming and diagnostic software suite and associated functional safety and engineering services to BP.

Hima says its systems can help BP standardize safety design, implementation methodology and compliance documentation.
