Honeywell will open a new protective mask manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona to meet demand during the COVID-19 crisis and plans to hire up to 500 people.
A Phoenix, Arizona facility currently used for storage by Honeywell International will be converted into a new protective mask manufacturing facility to meet demand from the growing COVID-19 pandemic, according to an article from the Phoenix Business Journal. Honeywell will reportedly ship 6 million masks made at the facility to the Arizona Department of Health Services for distribution to the state’s healthcare, safety and emergency response workers.
According to the article, the new facility will join Honeywell’s plant in Rhode Island in producing N95 masks for health care workers. The company reportedly also hopes to produce 20 million masks for the Strategic National Stockpile. Honeywell expects to hire up to 500 employees for the new plant, which is slated to begin production in mid-May.
