2012 Webinars Tackle Tough Issues

Jan. 4, 2012
This year's lineup covers a broad range of critical topics.

If you've ever written anything for publication, you know how far in advance you have to work. There are planning sessions, revisions, discussions, more revisions, and after much work the final product emerges. The same goes for crafting the Chemical Processing Panel Discussion series. Our editorial team, in concert with our business team, took great care in deciding what topics to cover in this monthly series.

One of the tasks of our Editor-In-Chief Mark Rosenzweig is taking the pulse of the industry and identifying topics worth coverage. He gets inputs from our active Editorial Board (comprised of folks from Bayer, Procter & Gamble, Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical, Eli Lilly and Kvaerner). Each webinar takes place on a Thursday at 2 p.m. ET. Here is the list:

How to Optimize Your Energy Resources ─ January 19
We will examine solutions and provide guidance on how plants can make the most of their energy resources.

Condition Monitoring: Key Tools & Solutions to Enhance Operations ─ February 16
This webinar will offer advice on how to improve operations, optimize efficiencies, lengthen asset life and boost overall reliability.

Cyber Security- How to Detect Security Gaps ─ March 15
Experts will address the challenge of staying in compliance with current regulations, how to detect security gaps in plant systems and how to properly design systems and applications to prevent attacks.

Asset Management: Getting the Most Out of Your Assets ─ April 19
Speakers will provide practical pointers for optimizing asset use, improving efficiency and lowering maintenance costs.

Effective Approaches for Minimizing & Controlling Emissions ─ May 17
Panelists will examine the best ways for minimizing and controlling emissions as well as for maintaining regulatory compliance.

Alarm Management: Proven Methods to Alleviate Alarm Issues ─ June 21
Most plants have too many alarms, hampering operators’ ability to properly respond to abnormal situations. This discussion will look at ways to tackle alarm overload.

Dust Control: How to Identify & Manage Explosion Hazards ─ July 19
Panelists will review the conditions that are required for dust explosions to occur and present approaches to spot and address dust cloud explosion hazards.

Process Safety: How to Successfully Recognize, Avoid and Minimize Risks ─ August 16
It’s crucial to implement processes to detect and prevent hazards from occurring. Panelists will offer advice on the best ways to identify and handle risks.

Water/Wastewater: Make the Fullest Use of Your Water Resources ─ September 20
Panelists will discuss solutions for improving wastewater treatment to enable increased water recycling and decreased discharges.

Solutions & Guidance for Optimizing Energy Resources ─ October 18
With energy representing a substantial portion of plant costs, improving energy efficiency is a top priority in the chemical industry. Learn how to take fullest advantage of energy resources.

Dry Materials Handling: Moving and Processing Solids with Ease ─ November 15
This panel discussion will examine issues related to characterizing solids – and handling them during processing.

How to Handle Potentially Explosive Dusts Properly to Reduce Explosion Risks ─ December 6
We will examine regulations and standards that target dust and dust collection systems and explore the best ways to deal with potentially explosive dusts to cut explosion and fire risks.
