Summary

Chemical facility startups and shutdowns are inherently dangerous due to the complex processes and hazardous materials involved.
Process instability and transient conditions during these transitional phases increase the risk of equipment failure, leaks or unexpected reactions.
In addition to getting all the technical aspects correct, you have to consider human factors. There is an increased reliance on manual operations and decision-making during non-routine procedures, which leads to the potential for human error due to stress, time pressure, or unfamiliarity with infrequent tasks.
In this webinar, Trish Kerin, director of the IChemE Safety Centre, will provide insight into mitigating all the risks involved in transient operations.
