Aveva has responded to customer demand with a new migration capability for the Aveva Instrumentation solution. This capability is designed to allow process plants to more easily upgrade entire instrumentation and control design systems from Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI/INtools) to Aveva Instrumentation technology.

The upgrade and migration service itself is provided by The EpiSES Group, an engineering organization that offers integration solutions, consultancy and training for plant owners, EPCs, subcontractors and construction and commissioning support teams.

The Aveva Instrumentation visual-engineering can create and manage instrument data through graphical interfaces rather than tables and forms and can apply intelligent change management. Rerouting wiring is no longer a multistage data-entry process. Instead, the wiring is moved to its new route by drag and drop. All associated connections, terminations and other data are managed automatically.

EpiSES has delivered migration services for several companies. One recent project involved nearly 80,000 separate items of instrumentation data migrated from SPI/Intools to AVEVA Instrumentation in two weeks, according to the company.
