U.S. And Canada Work On Joint Risk Assessments

Chemical companies hope for greater progress on joint assessments over the coming year.

Regardless of what transpires at the ballot box in November, chemical companies in the U.S. and Canada hope to see continued progress on joint chemical risk assessments during the coming year, according to an article from Bloomberg. A representative of the Chemical Industry Association of Canada notes in the article that the initiative under the bilateral Regulatory Cooperation Council has survived leadership change in Canada and is supported by both governments.

Christina Franz, director of regulatory and technical affairs with the American Chemistry Council, reiterates the support of the U.S. chemicals sector and the U.S. government for the partnership, according to the article. The U.S. EPA and Environment and Climate Change Canada have reportedly worked out an approach to align how chemicals are assessed in each country.
