Johnson Matthey acquires Miox within its Water Technologies business. The acquisition of the Miox electrochemical generation business broadens Johnson Matthey’s portfolio of water purification products and services, according to the company. Miox makes electrochemical technology used for water treatment in the industrial, food and beverage, oil and gas and municipal sectors. The company reportedly develops and builds systems that produce chemistries on-site for customers seeking to deploy sustainable water treatment technologies.

The acquisition of Miox complements Johnson Matthey’s experience in advanced materials, precious metals coatings and electrode development, according to the company. Access to Johnson Matthey’s global research and technology network will enable Miox to continue to expand its in-situ disinfection technology.

Miox will continue to operate from its headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
