The new model potentially reduces installation costs by eliminating cabling and wiring.

Oldham, an Industrial Scientific company, has released the OLCT 80 wireless field detector and transmitter for monitoring combustible, toxic and refrigerant gases and oxygen in remote locations.

The new model potentially reduces installation costs by eliminating cabling and wiring. Up to 49 of the devices, each of which has three built-in relays and a maximum line-of-sight range of 1.86 miles, can be linked via a secure network to monitor large remote areas, including ATEX 1 zones, where wired systems would be difficult to install.

Other features and benefits of the OLCT 80 wireless include an infrared remote controller and on-board display for non-intrusive, one-man calibration; flameproof or intrinsic-safety sensors; a design suitable for explosive areas; low power requirements; universally accepted frequency of 2.4 GHz/900MHz; and fexible input/output options, including analog, TOR and Modbus RS485.
