Coriolis Mass Flowmeter Boasts Tantalum Construction

Oct. 6, 2009
The tantalum version of the Optimass 7300 straight-tube Coriolis mass flowmeter has a tantalum wetted-flange material construction and is said to measure highly aggressive or corrosive fluids and provide no-hassle installation and superior performance in density and mass flow. Tantalum has similar chemical resistance as glass, and is typically used with chemicals such as hydrochloric, sulfuric, nitric, and phosphoric acids, or bromine and chlorine. The tantalum used is an alloy called Ta10W, comprised of 10% tungsten and 90% tantalum. Tungsten provides the additional tensile strength required to handle the stresses associated with straight tube technology.
