Interface Offers Increased Accessibility, Flexibility and Power
GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, has announced the latest version of its Proficy Change Management, version 5.9. This new version features web-based client enhancements that provide users with “thin” client capabilities for version control, audit trails and secure access for popular automation products. The new interface allows end users to locate the project or PLC files that they need to access more easily using a configurable HTML-based interface.
The HTML-based client is thin and easy to deploy with a small footprint that will save users time and effort installing or updating compared to traditional ‘thick’ clients. It also provides easy access to common end-user and administrative functions such as check out, check in, open, version reports, compare and more.
This new version of the product provides a lower maintenance alternative with an intranet server based deployment and lightweight client install to reduce the overall cost of maintaining the system.
The product wizard provides the power to support virtually any type of file, document or FTP device. Users can create their own wizard product types by answering a few key questions about the files they want it to manage, and Proficy Change Management will automatically create a profile to manage these files. The Wizard comes pre-configured with standard and FTP templates for handling of devices such as robots, vision systems and CNCs, file upload-download for SCADA systems, PC control systems and other file storage systems.
The drag-and-drop configuration allows users to easily create an HTML interface to organize projects and provide customized Web pages if desired. The client supports popular hardware from GE Fanuc and third-party products from Rockwell, Siemens and Schneider.
Proficy Change Management 5.9’s new features also assist companies in meeting industry-based governmental regulations, such as the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) critical infrastructure protection, faster with a decreased total cost of ownership.
