Siemens announces a line of NEMA Premium efficient motors

Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. announces a line of NEMA Premium efficient motors with aluminum rotors. These motors, which provide higher efficiency at a lower cost, will help customers meet the 2010 mandatory efficiency requirements of the 2007 Energy Independence & Security Act.

This line of NEMA Premium efficient motors with aluminum rotors offers the same horsepower and rugged housing as Siemens’ copper rotor-based NEMA Premium motors. They also meet the efficiency requirements of many states’ utility rebate programs, such as the Sacramento Utility District (SMUD) Motors and Process Improvement Incentives and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Motor Drives Incentives programs. Designed for original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and customers who want an economically priced NEMA Premium motor, these aluminum rotor NEMA motors represent Siemens’ expansion of its industrial line of motors, offering customers a choice between aluminum and copper rotors. The motors are available in general purpose, severe duty, IEEE 841, modified and custom-built motor configurations.
