The U.K.’s Health and Safety Executive has just issued a safety notice that describes the dangers of undetected corrosion in trunnion supports of pipework containing hazardous substances, in particular tubular trunnions fitted with an end cap — such trunnions are common at petrochemical plants — and the precautions necessary to ensure continued safe operation.
