According to a report on Bloomberg.com, German chemical companies are seeing a light at the end of the recession tunnel.

The report states: “The worst for the chemical industry seems to be behind us,” Ulrich Lehner, president of German chemical association VCI, said in a statement. VCI said chemical production in the second quarter rose 2.5% from the year’s first three months, the first increase in four quarters."

Back in the states, the light is still elusive. According to Louisiana Chemical Association President Dan Borne, Louisiana's chemical industry stands to lose another 700 to 1,200 jobs by the end of 2010. He also noted that chemical production at Gulf Coast plants is off about 18% this year.
