Bernie Stratton | Global Director of Manufacturing Excellence | Vantage Chemicals
Bernie has 34 years' experience from R&D through plant technical support, project management, plant supervision and general ops management.
He started out with ICI in their Dulux Paints Division in the UK and gradually transitioned over time into full-time Operational roles.Bernie has managed a range of Chemical plants both in the UK and US and currently lead the Manufacturing Excellence function for Vantage Specialty Chemicals, which includes Capex, QA/QC, CI & Lean, PSM & Process Engineering and manufacturing Best Practice responsibilities for the company.
Bernie also has significant experience in EH&S to include COMAH, PSM, ISO14001, Hazard Study / LOPA and behavior-based safety.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals
Joyel DiTomasso is the Senior Manager of Vertex Manufacturing Center Operational Excellence at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. She holds a B.S. in Microbiology from Salve Regina University and a Green Belt in Six Sigma. She started her career in Pharmacology/Toxicology where she helped design immunoassays. She has almost 20 years of experience with multiple different roles throughout her career including QC Microbiology, manufacturing compliance and industrial engineering where she found her passion for continuous improvement. In her current role, she utilizes traditional lean methodologies to identify the primary source of waste at the Vertex Manufacturing Center.

Traci Purdum, an award-winning business journalist with extensive experience covering manufacturing and management issues, is a graduate of the Kent State University School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Kent, Ohio, and an alumnus of the Wharton Seminar for Business Journalists, Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Purdum, who has been with Chemical Processing since 2008, serves as moderator to the brand’s many webinars and roundtables. She also hosts the podcast Process Safety With Trish & Traci.
