Bill Scales is an internationally recognized expert in compressed air systems and has been involved in the air compressor industry since 1952 as a "hands-on" mechanic, engineer, author and consultant. He has visited more than 5,000 facilities and audited or provided energy assessments of hundreds of compressed air systems throughout the United States, Asia, Australia, South America, and Europe. He has been responsible for designing and installing systems of all sizes, and has recommended and implemented measures to reduce operating costs and improve compressed air system reliability.

Bill is based out of the Randallstown, Md., facility for Ing. Enea Mattei SpA of Milan, Italy, the global leader in rotary vane technology. Compressed air industry veteran with more than 35 years experience with rotary vane, rotary screw, reciprocating, scroll and centrifugal air compressors. Positions held include rotary screw product manager, director of marketing for Fortune 100 multi-brand air treatment products market leader, national sales manager, sales representative at both the manufacturer and distributor levels, application engineer, and service technician. Designed and patented an air compressor condensate treatment system.

Jay R. Hedges has been president of Mattei Compressor, Inc. a subsidiary of Mattei SpA of Milan, Italy since May of 2008. With 25 years in various senior management positions in manufacturing, Hedges has been in the compressed air industry for 18 years as president of Champion Pneumatics, vice president of sales for Gardner Denver and now six years directing Mattei Compressors Inc. Hedges has a strong background in Lean Manufacturing, Strategic Planning and Product Development. He has lead Mattei through a doubling of turnover in five years during challenging economic times when the compressor market in North America declined by 60% until recently returning to pre-recession levels. This growth was accomplished by thru customer focused new product strategies based on Energy Efficiency in the Industrial Market Sector.  Hedges is currently a member of the Compressed Air and Gas Institute Rotary Positive Displacement Section, working closely with the U.S. Department of Energy developing energy efficiency standards for industrial air compressors.
