The ND9000 is said to ensure end product quality under all operating conditions through unique diagnostics capabilities and leading-edge performance features.
Metso says the controller is easy to use, with local and remote operation and features advanced device diagnostics, including self-diagnostics, online diagnostics, performance diagnostics, communication diagnostics, extended off-line tests and Intelligent Valve Diamond.
The ND9000 controller minimizes process variability by providing excellent dynamic and static control performance, high-speed response and accurate internal measurements. It reduces total cost of ownership with its ability to retro-fit into existing installations as well as with its future-proof design, which allows further options to be installed at a reduced cost versus replacing the controller.
With only one controller able to work on linear and rotary valves as well as double and single-acting actuators the ND9000 controller is easy to install and configure. Additionally, an optimized spares program reduces the number of spares needed on-hand.
The ND9000 controller — which requires low amounts of energy and air consumption — can be integrated with all common control systems to provide unprecedented levels of controllability.
Additional options include interchangeable communication options, including HART, foundation fieldbus and Profibus PA and limit switches.
Designed to operate in harsh environmental conditions, the ND9000's rugged modular design features an IP 65 enclosure that is vibration and impact tolerant. It offers temperature characteristics and protects against humidity. Additionally, the ND9000 is resistant to dirty air and is constructed with wear resistant and sealed components for maintenance-free operation.
By using FieldCare software, users have easy access to collected data for predictive maintenance. Intelligent Valve Diamond allows users to visualize control valve performance and diagnostics. The software provides logical trend and histogram collection and information on service conditions. The ND9000 also offers an extensive set of off-line tests with accurate key figure calculations, fast notifications with on-line alarms and a condition monitoring tool.
