  • Minute Clinic: Alarm Redundancy Without Alarm Duplication

In today’s Minute Clinic, we learn about alarm redundancy without alarm duplication. And no, they are not the same thing. Alarm duplication is multiple alarms on the same variable – it’s done out of fear of missing the first alarm. But it’s a mistaken belief that it will help you not miss alarms. Alarm redundancy is where you have another alarm backing up the first alarm, but it’s on a different variable entirely. If one variable fails what’s the next thing to fail? Listen in to hear more sage advice from Dave Strobhar -- founder and principal-human-factors engineer for Beville Engineering. Dave is also the founder of the Center for Operator Performance.

  • Minute Clinic: Reduce Emergency Procedures

In this episode of the Minute Clinic, we talk about how you can reduce emergency procedures by 90%. Dave Strobhar -- founder and principal-human-factors engineer for Beville Engineering – offers his expertise. Dave is also the founder of the Center for Operator Performance.

The main way to achieve reduction is to condense content. He notes that in a study done with Penn State University, if you look at 40-pages of procedures, there are only four pages of procedures that are unique. This helps in terms of updating procedures – making it a less-daunting task. Listen for more insight from Strobhar.
