The American Chemical Society, Washington, D.C., has launched the American Association of Chemistry Teachers (AACT). The new organization, which is said to be the first of its kind in the U.S., is targeted at the more than 1 million K-12 chemistry and physical science teachers in the country. It will strive to improve chemistry education by disseminating effective teaching and learning practices, to provide specialized resources for instruction, and to spur effective networking among teachers. Membership is open to anyone interested chemistry education. AACT’s website (www.teachchemistry.org) now is live.
