Lanxess is a specialty chemicals company with about 16,700 employees in 29 countries. The company is currently represented at 52 production sites worldwide.
The core business of Lanxess is the development, manufacturing and marketing of plastics, rubber, intermediates and specialty chemicals. Lanxess is a member of the leading sustainability indices Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World and DJSI Europe) and FTSE4Good.
President and CEO
Papadourakis, who held the position of regional group president Americas at Altuglas International, a subsidiary of Arkema group, since 2012, assumes the function of business unit head, responsible for all NAFTA activities, of the High Performance Materials business unit.
Papadourakis began his career at Arkema in 2007 as Business Director, Organic Peroxides, Americas. In September 2008, he was promoted to General Manager, Sustainability Additives and in February 2012, joined Altuglas International. He was promoted to president and CEO in July 2015.
Chairman of the Board
Matthias Zachert completed an industrial management apprenticeship at Mercedes-Benz AG before he studied business administration with a concentration in finance and international management from 1990 to 1995. He graduated with a degree in business administration (Diplom-Kaufmann).
Zachert served as CFO of Lanxess AG from 2004 to 2011, where he played a key role in establishing the global finance organization, restructuring the portfolio, and realigning the Bayer spin-off.
From June 2011, he has been a member of the Executive Board and Chief Financial Officer at Merck KGaA.
Since April 1, 2014, Zachert has served as Chairman of the Board.
Chief Financial Officer
Bernhard Düttmann worked as an assistant at the Institute for Industrial Management at the University of Hamburg between 1986 and 1988. He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Cologne in 1989.
In March 2001, Düttmann was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Beiersdorf affiliate tesa AG. Four years later, he was additionally named Executive Vice President of the company’s Business Unit tesa Consumer. Düttmann’s appointment to the Executive Board of Beiersdorf AG followed in September 2006. There he was responsible for Finance and for the company’s business in Latin America. Düttmann was latterly the Executive Board Member responsible for Finance/Human Resources and held regional responsibility for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey.
Bernhard Düttmann was appointed by the Supervisory Board of Lanxess AG on Feb. 3, 2011, to become Chief Financial Officer of the specialty chemicals company effective April 1, 2011.
