Clark Introduces 200/210 Series Vortex Flow Sensors

Clark Solutions expands liquid vortex flow sensor line.

Clark Solutions 200 and 210 Series Vortex Flow Sensors are designed specifically for OEMs for system flow monitoring and control. The sensors are suited for applications like water and water/glycol-based heat exchange systems (with the usual additives) and similar fluids with flow ranges from 0.9 to 150 liters per minute (0.24 to 39.6 GPM). 

The 200 Series Vortex Flow Sensors are available for ¼" to 1" pipe sizes, provide a frequency output and feature accuracy to 1% fs of measured value, according to Clark. An optional 1000 Ohm RTD embedded in the sensor "bluff" is available for direct temperature measurement in the medium. The sensors are available with ¼" to ¾" copper solder and stainless NPT thread fittings. The 1" threaded sensors are available with 303 Stainless NPT or polypropylene fittings.

The 210 Series Vortex Flow Sensors reportedly feature a response time of 100ms and an accuracy of 1% fs of measured value. The 210 Series Sensors are equipped with increased range of power supply (4.5-33 VDC) and output signals (frequency, 0-10 V, analog 4-20 mA). With no moving parts, the flow sensor is not sensitive to debris and has marginal pressure loss and high accuracy.

All 200 and 210 Series Liquid Vortex Flow Sensors operate on the principle of Kármán's vortex trail. The vortex-shedding flow meters determine the flow in a pipe using an obstruction/bluff in the flow meter body and monitoring alternating vortices are formed on each side of the bluff body and travel downstream. The flow sensors utilize piezoelectric sensors embedded in an ETFE vane located downstream of the bluff to detect the generated vortices. The frequency measured represents the flow velocity and a flow factor is provided to convert frequency to volume flow rate for each model size.
