Applications include coal-fired and gas-fired power generation, petrochemical and chemical refining, pulp and paper and institutional and government facility power plants.

Ametek Process Instruments has released a new extractive combustion gas analyzer with safety support. The Thermox WDG-V has been third-party certified for SIL-2 implementation in safety i Instrumented systems (SIS).

Applications include coal- and gas-fired power generation, petrochemical and chemical refining, pulp and paper and institutional and government facility power plants. The WDG-V analyzer monitors hot, wet flue gas for excess oxygen. It also allows operators to lower emissions of NOx, CO and CO2 and improve operating efficiency in power generation and petrochemical refining. Reliable detection of excess oxygen and combustibles (CO) in a fired heater or boiler are critical to the effectiveness of burner management systems. The WDG-V also monitors for methane for safe burner startup.

Features include an improved aspirator design with larger orifice sizes, a low-flow sample alarm that monitors combustion gas flow at the sensors, automatic verification of cell and detector response and cell and detector age tracking for proactive calibration or service scheduling.

The WDG-V mounts directly to the process flange and is heated to maintain all sample wetted components above the acid dew point. Its air-operated aspirator draws a sample into the analyzer and returns it to the process.
