Motor Offers Higher Horsepower In A Smaller Footprint

Sept. 17, 2009

Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. recently announced the release of the SH630 Above NEMA AC induction motor. Based on the award-winning technology of the larger SH710 motor, the SH630 is the newest member of the H-compact Plus series. It offers higher horsepower in a smaller footprint while meeting the requirements of the most demanding applications.

The SH630 has been developed to provide optimal performance and efficiency in a compact design, providing up to 11,000 horsepower at supply voltages from 2.3 to 13.8 kV, 50 or 60 Hertz. The low-windage design and precision within all rotating and stationary components minimize friction losses. Its highly conductive copper rotors and stator windings deliver optimal electrical performance.

Like all the H-compact Plus modular motor family, the SH630 offers a wide selection of cooling configurations and enclosures (Weather-Protected Type II, Totally Enclosed Water-to-Air Cooled and Totally Enclosed Air-to-Air Cooled) to meet users’ constant or variable speed performance and ambient operating environment needs. To provide the high reliability that is imperative for the process industries, Siemens builds each SH630 using the most advanced techniques and materials in its ISO 9001-certified factory in Norwood, Ohio. The SH630 motors’ features, design and materials meet and often exceed the industry’s toughest standards –NEMA, IEC, ANSI, API, IEEE, NEC and CSA standards – making it well-suited for the oil and gas, petrochemical, mining, cement and pulp and paper industries.

The SH630 also features Siemens’ exclusive Micalastic comprehensive vacuum impregnation insulation system to extend the motor’s service life. With its line-supply and converter-fed operation, corona shielding, high switching and reversing strength, the Micalastic system delivers exceptional thermal stability, surge strength and resistance to severe environmental and electrical operating conditions.
