GE Digital Energy has enhanced the Multilin M60 Motor Protection System

Designed for medium- and large-sized medium-voltage motors, GE Digital Energy's enhanced Multilin M60 Motor Protection System now offers cost savings in wiring and installation with support for remote RTDs. The M60, based on GE Digital Energy’s Universal Relay (UR) platform, includes remote Resistance Thermal Detector (RTD) support, embedded IEC 61850 communications, enhanced security features and ambient temperature monitoring and alarming.

Now supporting remote RTDs, the M60 Motor Protection System drives down costs associated with the installation and maintenance of traditional temperature monitoring devices. With the remote RTD module mounted close to the motor, and the ability to monitor up to 12 RTDs, the M60 delivers an advanced, cost-effective solution.

The M60 also provides comprehensive communications capabilities including support for the Multilin HardFiber Process Bus Solution, which provides bi-directional IEC 61850 fiber-optic communications, using GOOSE messaging, directly to the primary switchyard. With programmable logic to build custom control applications, the M60 delivers seamless communications and interoperability, eliminating the need for point-to-point wiring and auxiliary devices.

Adhering to the latest in security compliance, the M60 includes added features for the highest levels of device and system security. It creates a robust network security while enabling critical infrastructure protection with Dual Permission Access Control and User Command Logging.

For maximum system reliability and durability, the M60 now incorporates ambient temperature monitoring and alarming. With customizable alarm set points with user definable upper thresholds, the M60 provides advanced warning and notification of potential system issues before they occur.
