Rotary Batch Mixer Features a Spray Line for Liquid Additions

April 17, 2007

The model 700-TH-40-SS sanitary rotary batch mixer gently blends batches of ingredients in parts as small as one per million with 100% uniformity in less than three minutes, evacuates 100% of the batch and can be sanitized rapidly with no tools.

The unit is designed with a retractable inlet for rapid, thorough washdown, a stationary discharge and a rotating drum with proprietary mixing flights that tumble, turn and fold material gently, imparting minimal energy to the batch while reportedly achieving 100% uniformity in two to three minutes, regardless of disparities in the bulk densities, particle sizes or flow characteristics of batch ingredients.

The mixer has a useable batch capacity of 40 cu ft (1.132 cu m), total capacity of 80 cu ft (2.27 cu m) and weight capacity of 4000 pounds (1,814 kilograms) and is said to be equally effective in blending of batches from 100 down to 5% of rated capacity.

Intended for 3-A and USDA applications as well as industrial applications involving contamination-sensitive materials and/or frequent product changeovers, the unit features internal mixing flights that are spaced for easy access, all-stainless contact surfaces, continuous, polished welds having 0.25-inch (6-millimeter) radii, external, removable seals and a CIP vessel cleaning nozzle. The mixer is also equipped with a spray line for liquid additions.

Unlike stationary mixing vessels that leave a residual “heal” of material after discharge, the rotating vessel and internal flights of the rotary mixer reportedly lift and direct the entire batch into the discharge spout for complete evacuation with no residual material or manual intervention, improving product quality and process control while facilitating rapid, thorough cleaning.

The company also offers mixers in carbon steel, or stainless steel with industrial finish, in capacities from 10 to 600 cu ft (0.28 to 17 cu m).
