Rosemount introduces multi-variable transmitter

Emerson Process Management has introduced the Rosemount 3095 MultiVariable transmitter with FOUNDATION fieldbus communications technology and fully compensated mass flow functionality.  A first for the process industry, the new mass flowmeter is an extension to the industry-leading, field-proven Rosemount 3095 platform, and an addition to the intelligent field device functionality of Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture.

The new 3095 mass flowmeters deliver four measurements from one device, including pressure, differential pressure, temperature, and fully compensated mass flow.  A single MultiVariable mass flowmeter installation reduces multiple process penetrations, inventory, and installation costs.

The Rosemount 3095 provides fully compensated mass flow, reducing all sources of traditional DP flow uncertainty. The new mass flow function block in the 3095 applies measured pressure and temperature to perform real-time flow compensation for all flow variables that could contribute to flow errors, including: density, discharge coefficient, gas expansion factor, bore of differential producer, and velocity approach.  Fewer flow errors mean reduced process variability and improved product quality.

The comprehensive suite of FOUNDATION fieldbus function blocks in the Rosemount 3095 helps power PlantWeb to improve plant efficiency by 2% and more. Users can eliminate the costs associated with complex programming by using the Mass Flow block to calculate fully compensated mass flow, and totalize in the field with the integrator block.  Fieldbus function blocks supported by the Rosemount 3095 include; Fully Compensated Mass Flow, Analog Input, Analog Output, Auto-Tune PID, Input Selector, Signal Characterizer, Arithmetic, Integrator, Control Selector, Output Splitter, and LCD.
