Macro Sensors offers user-friendly digital controllers and indicators

Macro Sensors, a sensor company specializing in the manufacture of LVDT-based linear sensors and gaging probes, has designed a family of user-friendly digital controllers and indicators that can be used in virtually any industrial measurement and control application within the petrochemical, power generation, laboratory and manufacturing industries.  Offering precise measurement for applications utilizing AC- and DC-operated LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) inputs, Macro Sensors Series DMC Dual Channel LVDT Controllers and Series DMI Single Channel LVDT Indicators offer user-friendly set-up with a scrolling display that actively prompts users through set-up.  The DMC Dual Channel Controllers also offers a GUI interface, enabling operators to quickly program and view data through a computer.

“The scrolling display of our digital controllers and indicators prompts users on what type of information to input during specific set-up stages,” notes Ed Herceg, Macro Sensors N.A. Sales Manger.  “R&D staff, factory automation personnel and other technicians can easily program these controllers and indicators without engineering assistance.”

Macro Sensors offers its digital controllers and indicators in both AC- and DC-versions including:

  • DMC-D2-100 Dual Channel DC-LVDT Controller Scrolling Meter operates from 115VAC or 24V DC and provides proper voltage for operating any standard DC-LVDT. Its DC LVDT input module is designed to drive the signals for two DC-LVDT transducers
  • DMC-A2-100 Dual Channel AC-LVDT Controller Scrolling Meter is powered from 24 VDC or 120-240 VAC to provide optional analog outputs of DC voltage or current loop.
  • DMI-D1-100 Single Channel DC-LVDT Indicator communicates with the selected controller internally via a .2C data bus.   Units offer a 10V scalable analog output without recalibration and built-in 24V DC to power virtually any DC-LVDT
  • DMI-AI-100 Single Channel AC-LVDT Indicator utilizes one of its two micro controllers to generate the sine wave for the AC LVDT excitation frequency. Units provide a high-speed 10V scalable analog output without recalibration and built-in excitation to properly power any standard AC-LVDT.

Both the DMC Controllers and DMI Indicators incorporate internal signal conditioning that provide the proper voltage for operating LVDTs and a scalable analog output to feed external instrumentation, recording or control devices.  Offering readout down to 1/10,000 inch, all units provide a bright 0.56” (mm) high LED vivid front-panel digital display of measured values. DMC Dual Channel LVDT Controllers offer six independently programmable set points with eight selectable functions; DMI Single Channel LVDT Indicators offer four programmable set points with alarm status annunciator LEDs.

DMC Digital Controllers feature microprocessor-based logic and advanced software to provide digital position indication and cross-channel math functions for advanced monitoring, measuring and control. Programmable input averaging and digital filtering allow for quick response. HI/LO limit detection is useful in a variety of “Go/No-Go” gaging applications.  A standard RS-232 communications port can be used with data loggers, PLCs and computers.  Units offer up to 16 excitation frequencies, selectable using the scrolling text menu in the controller setup.

“Our digital indicators and controllers can be used on production lines to automatically gauge products for quality control and product sorting as well as in the power generation and petrochemical industries for servo position feedback on actuated equipment such as valves and dampers.” notes Herceg.

The DMC Dual Channel LVDT Controllers and DMI Signal Channel Indicators are economically priced at about one-third lower than competitive LVDT dedicated units.  Units can be fitted on a panel or used as tabletop instruments.  An optional network capability supports multi-channel applications by permitting the interface of multiple units within an automation system.  For additional information, please contact Eileen Ellis at 856-662-8000/email: [email protected] or visit our web site at http://www.macrosensors.com/ms-lvdts_prod-cont-indic.html
