German water and sanitation company Passavant-Geiger GmbH acquired screening products manufacturer Johnson Screens Inc. effective Feb. 27.

Passavant-Geiger, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bilfinger SE, and New Brighton, Minn.-based Johnson Screens will form the Bilfinger Water Technologies Group. Johnson Screens provides screening products for water infrastructure, wastewater treatment, hydrocarbon processing and general filtration.

With the acquisition, Passavant-Geiger will double its output volume in the water and waste water sector to more than 300 million euros. The move will strengthen Passavant-Geiger’s international market presence, said Joachim Foerderer, Passavant-Geiger CEO and CEO of the future Bilfinger Water Technologies. The newly formed group will have locations in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia Pacific and Australia.

This acquisition also enables new opportunities for comprehensive system solutions in many sectors, including the combination of water well and treatment technologies.
