Spirax Sarco Offers Steam Operator Training Program

Training manual includes the latest information on instrumentation and PLC controls systems.

Steam systems provider Spirax Sarco will offer a five-day training course on steam boiler operation, maintenance and troubleshooting Dec. 4 through Dec. 7 in Blythewood, S.C.

Instructor Caroll Hooper, P.E., C.E.M, will cover common boiler auxiliaries and operating techniques during the event. Information will be included on modern boiler water treatment practices, construction and repair methods, waste heat recovery, controls, fuels and draft.

The training manual includes the latest information on instrumentation and PLC controls systems, variable-frequency drives (VFD’s), steam system optimization, reverse osmosis systems, low-NOx burners and boiler startup and shutdown procedures.

On Dec. 7, the American Society of Power Engineers Region 4 will provide an Entry Level 3 class through Chief Engineering Level testing for those who qualify. The cost of the five-day course includes exam, licensing and handbook.
